Katara got the shit end of the stick the WHOLE DAMN TIME!!! From the first series, legend of Korra, AND the damn movie!!! It's pretty obvious the creator didn't like Katara and it's probably because she was a darker skinned character who was a woman!!! it's the major aggressions for me! 🙄

Originally LOK was only confirmed for 1 season and they heavily implied all other OGs were dead (we see Zuko and Toph in later seasons). I believe this is why she doesn’t have a statue

And he did all that, but they hate Korra. I'm not saying they should hate Aang, but they don't have that kind of understanding for Korra. It all boils down to the fact that she's a female character. The same thing happens with Katara. In The Legend of Korra, they treat her like a simple healer, and in the movie, her whole character revolves around Aang.

the treatment of katara after the show is so fucking annoying. they basically rewrite the original saying she build repoblic city.... my god then why dose she doesn't have a single little statue or recognization in republic city by people? they said she was into politics and banned blood in a coming but then process to not have her in the flashbacks of engaging in politics like going into yakons court. and she was the only blood bender alongside yakon in that time. her grandchildren didn't even fucking knew her like they deadass never seen her in their life ( watch Korra episode one ) most comics ( not all ) just have her being aang supportive girlfriend and has barely important line that ain't about him. i can ho on and on

he's a very selfish character. katara lost so much as a character when atla ended and it was no longer aaron, elizabeth, jonathan, etc writing. that stunt they pulled with katara in the movie by making her a representative fits nowhere in the script because we know about the future. no statue if she was as important as sokka? no participation and no agency after aang died? she has an expiration date as soon as the male character holding her disappears. this is why I hate this trope so much

I loved ATLA growing up bc of Katara. Bc she refused her set future of being a healer. Bc she used her emotional (then later physical) strength to keep her group alive and Aang from falling into revenge. The team only falls apart when Katara does.
