We’re honored to share Rebekah’s story about her son Elias and their NICU experience. Like many families, she didn’t know that fortifying breast milk is a common and important part of helping premature infants get the extra nutrition they need to grow. In her video, she explains that NICUs use two types of fortifiers: cow‑milk–based and 100% donor human milk‑based. While both may be labeled “human milk fortifier,” only Prolacta’s products are made entirely from human milk (instead of cow milk). Stories like hers highlight how important it is for parents to understand their options, ask questions, and feel empowered in their baby’s care. We’re grateful she chose to share her experience to help raise awareness for other NICU families. If you or someone you know has a preemie in the NICU, we hope this information helps you feel more confident navigating nutritional decisions during such a vulnerable time.
