[Recipe in Caption/Blog] My 2 secrets in making the best tasty Onde Onde even with just 4 ingredients (excluding water 😂) 🌴🥥 Most important and before I start, Onde Onde is a popular southeast asian Kuih with a chewy pandan-infused glutinous rice wrapped around melted coconut sugar (Gula Melaka) with a fragrant coconut coat 😋 My must do for tasty Onde Onde: (1) Use fresh ingredients including shredded coconut and Pandan juice as much as possible - it really makes a difference in aroma and flavour! You can use extract as a top up if needed (2) Patience to experiment the dough to sugar ration and to ensure it can still wrap 🤪 (3) Bonus - I use small chunks of Gula Melaka or granulated ones so that they can melt faster! Here’s the recipe and hope you enjoy them! Ingredients Approx 15 leaves / 100g of Pandan Leaves 340ml of Water 220g of Glutinous Rice Flour At least 100g of Small Chunks / Granulated Gula Melaka (best to standby 150g - 200g) Approx 1/2 Cup or 100g of Steamed Shredded Coconut Instructions 1. Blend water with pandan leaves at medium speed until uniform. You can do it in 2 - 3 batches depending on your blender. 2. Then, strain and squeeze using a spoon to extract all the pandan juice. Set aside the pandan juice to settle for 10 minutes. 3. Meanwhile, steam the shredded coconut for approx. 5 minutes to soften. 4. In a large bowl, pour the 260ml of pandan juice into the glutinous rice flour until the batter. Mix well and lightly knead with your hands until the batter doesn’t stick to the sides of the bowl, and you can form a ball of dough without breaking. 5. Set aside the dough to rest for 5 minutes and in the meanwhile, prepare a pot of boiling water. 6. Once ready, form a spherical ball of dough for each onde onde (approx 15g), and make an imprint at the middle so it’s bowl-like, fill with gula melaka, pinch to seal. Roll and drop it immediately into boiling water and remove when it’s floating (assembling at cooking at the same time!). 7. Then, remove with a slotted spoon to drain excess water and coat with coconut. #recipeidea #kueh #kuih #ondehondeh #pandan #southeastasianfood #sgfoodie #EasyRecipe #EasyRecipes #localfood
