I am so sorry to curse your screen with this reenactment. 🤢 One of the best things Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles gave to this world was a more realistic portrayal of Chris and Claire’s dynamic than what Code Veronica initially gave us 😭 There was far too much moaning in Chris and Claire’s reunion scene in CV for my tastes. 😬 Next to maybe the boss fight with Helena’s sister Angela in Resident Evil 6, it’s probably one of the most uncomfortable moments of the series. 😅 While we barely see them onscreen together despite the centrality of each other to their narratives, they do not act like siblings until Darkside Chronicles and, later, Death Island. Well, they do act like siblings if you’re going by the metric of the 2009 Folgers Coffee Christmas commercial, whose cast had notoriously uncomfortable chemistry and more lip biting than you ever need for family friendly media. 🫦 Fortunately, Darkside Chronicles, in revisiting that scene, made everything a lot more wholesome and showed Chris treating Claire like a kid when she scared, further revealing that Claire puts on a brave face even when she’s terrified but will unmask when she’s around her family. 🫂 While I usually don’t want much change with a remake, I am holding out hope that the Code Veronica remake’s reunion scene will be closer to the Darkside Chronicles’ script in this regard.
