People should start thinking before they speak. 1: most European countries (if not all) allow to bring your family later, so it doesn’t make sense to risk your wife/ children’s life for no reason. 2: how is a 3 yo swimming anywhere really? 3: they could also work in Europe and send the money back to the family, this way the kids can grow up in a familiar environment whilst being financially stable.

the journey is not an easy one. most asylum seekers (not illegal migrants as everyone likes to call them, everyone has rights to asylum) many women who make the journey are graped and assaulted and so the men make the journey, send money back until they can afford to come over safely

Really shocking how many people lack common sense but here’s your explanation- Men make the journey first because they’re the ones taking the initial risk. The plan is to get somewhere safe and then try to reunite with their wives, mothers, or children later through legal or other routes. That’s why you tend to see more men making these dangerous crossings
