@liesl.eppes.video: 🎬 Olivia Wilde filmed The Invite almost entirely in one location...and in order. For what many are calling the best comedy of the year that is incredibly impressive. But what if it wasn't in spite of these (and other choices) that this film works well but because of them? There is a reason I chose to get my degree in Theatre Arts, and I would argue that a huge reason why this film is so incredible is because Wilde's creative process mirrors so closely a theatrical one. 🎭 She started with a workshopping process, collaborating with writers Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, and individuated the characters of Seth Rogan, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton to fit what they each brought to the table. She chose to tell her version of this story (rather than copying the original as so many remakes do). Not to mention the fact that this is one of the most well blocked films I have ever witnessed. No spoilers here apart from some take-aways about her creative process but you should get out and see this film in theaters if you can! I truly believe there is so much to be learned from it no matter what you are creating. Have you seen it yet?
