📝 #Documentation In August I really learnt the importance of how: The percentage of how much you stick to your trading is much more important than how much you actually make. . I ended July +7% and stuck to my plan 95% of the time and August I ended just under BE and stuck to my plan 65% of the time. That’s the lowest % I’ve ever stuck to my plan this year and I’m not surprised about the by-product. . Of course there’s other factors that play a role. But I really want to highlight the importance of firstly: having and following a trading plan, with your go-to setups. Something that you have backtested and understand the probabilities and gives you an edge in the market. (And this stuff takes time). ⏳ . Some may argue that we’re here to make money and not be following plan. But how do you expect to be profitable by having no guidelines, risk management plan etc. We do not go into the markets blindly and press buy or sell and hope for the best. I did that sh*t for nearly 2 months (before finding proper mentorship) and that got me absolutely no-where! . Now, I’m no guru but it’s pretty common sense that if a backtested plan is of ‘quality’, then the more I stick to this plan, the more quality trades I should be taking? But yeah, I think there may be an important factor of discretion as well, especially with the ever-changing markets. . But hey, we’re human, emotions DO get in the way sometimes and in all honesty, I felt FOMO during August; something I haven’t felt in a while. That led to some poor decisions and thus, a couple of poor trades (that weren’t in my plan). . So that’s my biggest take-away from August, such an incredible month with so many lessons learnt. Onwards and upwards! 🏹
