The saddest thing to me here is Takopi had never experienced anything like that before. He didn't know what was going on, why Marine's mother was hurting him, but knows that he took Marina away from her mother. 😭

My favorite part of this scene is that while obviously yes her mom noticed she had been replaced by something else, the sentiment of “you aren’t my little girl” and “who are you” is something abusive parents say to their children all the time as they grow older and change naturally to become more independent or happy. It’s such clever writing. I love this show and manga

I like that tbh in the anime, it points out the hypocrisy to how abusers in most relationships get so lost in their own selfish outbursts that the moment they lost the person they carried and abused in the relationship they just suddenly snap back into reality. Points out the ignorance in some people

I refuse to believe marina's mother knew her child was gone and something else was disguising as her. It's unfortunately obvious that she would've said this to Marina if she ever chose to not side with her and likely has in the past; so much so that Marina now *always* chooses her mother's side. Her mother never cared about Marina, only her compliance I fear

Every single character in this show is genuinely so well written and the fact that they managed to do it in 6 episodes/2 volumes is so crazy. I genuinely love Takopi’s Original Sin so much
