Having bid/handled electrical for many data centers in NC when this was first taking off 10yrs ago, don’t believe the lies. Yes, crazy money is spent for infrastructure to/on the property and construction, but mostly awarded to huge national companies. Local contractors may get some subcontractor work. The local economy boom consists of hotels, gas, meals during construction but once complete ‘employment’ is a handful of IT people and security—otherwise the structure is basically a huge walk-in cooler to keep servers cool. In my experience, no! I would not want this anywhere near me.
