I believe they confirmed she is the daughter of Tomoe aka Kagamis sister in a s7 leak and considering she calls so many ppl "mom" and Kagami is completely unaware theyre related i think she was put into the foster care system (aka super flawed and leaves so many children with trauma😍) as a child so that could be some motive? but I think even with that said, she's still more of a pure evil villain than anything.

I loved the finale ngl, I love the fact that we don't know anything more about her yet, because it literally puts us in the eyes of the heroes, it's like a deep immersion in the series, where Lila is so mysterious, that even the audience don't get to see her side of the story just yet, it's so good because it gives us the opportunity to take a moment and think for what may be her true motives... is it for immortality? riches? death of a loved one? something in the future? who knows! it builds the lore and story slowly, unlike Gabriel's arc where his true motives were then revealed right after, Lila is different....

She's only been written well in newer seasons because before that she was the worst liar known to man and everyone else was just brain dead. Starting from season 5 they actually started to write her like an actual smart person
