@alexandraelaineadams: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝, 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐝𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬?…𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧… _ As the UK’s 1st deafblind doctor, I share mythbusting content on how I do things in a clinically heavy, high-responsibility role as someone who is down two senses. The purpose of these videos is to bust the myths behind what it truly means to be deafblind, and in the medical profession, whilst also educating people on how things ARE done and what IS possible when we apply a bit of open-mindedness and innovation _ As I’ve always said, deafblindness - like every disability, comes on a huge spectrum. I also stress that it doesn’t ever mean ‘rules’ are relaxed or exams and competencies skipped - everyone has to meet exactly the same requirements in order to be safe and qualified to do the job, regardless of what that job is or what disability it comes with. _ And whilst I’m certainly more busy now in my new role as a doctor, I’m still keen to educate and advocate, and am excited to share more mythbusting content as I continue moving through the next chapter of my dream career. What I desire most out of all this is to continue changing perceptions when it comes to the outdated stereotypes of disability, and instead help people realise that SO much is possible. Our current and future generations deserve to know of all that can be achieved and that there should be no limitations. Of course, that requires a world where people are curious and ask questions, rather than one that misjudges and discriminates. Hence, I’m opening up this page to suggestions on future content - what do you want to learn? What do you want to understand?
