Not a perfect study. Very open to bias. He could have selected participants which seemed normal to follow up with, in order to normalize gay activity “see these are normal members of society therefore society’s judgement is the problem!”. How many criminal or not upstanding individuals did he overlook to get his conclusion. We will never know, because it was a one man operation with no ethical oversight.
