One of my clients works at Henkel and all their employees have access to their online store for a 50% discount. Even professional color, no license needed. We don't even get that kind of pricing and instead are having to pass on our increases to the client. The industry is eating its own.

Me and my can of Big Sexy Volumizing Mousse that I use like four times against year against the world for the last three years. 😆 I found it was best to meet the client where they’re at. If the in-salon product is too expensive, they’re shopping based on cost, not the value of the product maybe being more concentrated or whatever other marketable feature they’re looking for. I can always find something similar at their price point, and I would’ve been a shitty person and stylist if I didn’t. I’ll also give some brand background, so they can make a choice if that’s something they want to consume. (But, I don’t really believe there’s ethical consumption under capitalism anyway.)

agree the same as you had mentioned. Brands never sell out they will relocate an item before they sell out!. Inside secret would be they under price the brand to have some income and not a zero sellout price. Right now majority of brands are uplifting the total look of the brand and raise the whole sale price that trickles down into the actual professionals.
