Powder works so much better. I've tried both of Bar Keepers Friend, especially on my stainless steel pots & pans. The Powder is noticeably stronger & cuts the clean time in half. 🙂

I put a cup that I use to rinse out tubs or whatever, over the top of my powdered product

they are the exact same product and I've used both I do prefer the soft cleaner only because sometimes the powder one the powder hardens and I feel like I have to beat the hell out of it to get anything to come out if it gets any moisture in there but they are the same thing
