I agree. I’m a 45 year old man, build a bear is my happy place. Used to take my nephews all the time. As someone who’s struggled with depression my entire adult life, my build a bears give me some dopamine in an otherwise mundane and dull life. I’m super excited to order my new spooky friends next week.

I don’t think they are complaining about TikTokers who actually like the plush and dolls. But the ones who just hop on the bandwagon when it’s get popular like the animal cookie giraffe and bat last year.

I can't speak for everyone, but when I say "tiktok is ruining plushie collecting," I'm not talking about the people who have been collecting this whole time. I'm talking about the content creators who only post content of whatever Build-a-Bear is going viral. like "look at Build-a-Bear's new viral [whatever plushie everyone is talking about], you know I had to get it 🤪 Run, don't walk, before they sell out!" and it just feels disingenuous, like they're in it for the trend. I love seeing genuine plushie enthusiast content, I just can't stand "influencers" farming fomo for internet clout and bragging about having whatever viral plushie sold out.

It makes me so sad the idea that people should stop enjoying things that are completely harmless just because they got older. I also find it interesting how as a society it’s been decided what things are childish and what aren’t and how often the more stereotypically male interests aren’t seen as “childish” or “cringe” or “immature” in the same way stereotypically female interests are.

I’ve never had an issue with the creators. It’s the scalping and resellers that are the main issue. I take my buddy muffin out with me all the time! Here he is with me at Disney!

It’s never been a “trend” for me I’ve had stuffed animals since I was a little girl this was never a phase…when I was 4month postpartum my ex left me and my stuffies were all I had:( I had no job and I sold my collections they provided for me I’ll never not love stuffed animals they are my family and the amount of help they provided me when I needed them is unmatched to a person… some people don’t get it and that’s okay they will never understand

I wasn’t planning on getting the spider even though I really wanted it because I wanted to leave it for people who needed a new stuffy but my little sister went ballistic for it. Mind you this child is 16 and she really wanted to do it together so we’ve ordered them.
