@elizaorlins: Congress wrote five exceptions into the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The Justice Department's own January 2026 review protocol tells reviewers to redact for at least three more that Congress never authorized, including the names of assistant U.S. attorneys and law enforcement. Two of the ten documents delivered to a federal judge in camera at 2:28 PM today are defended on exactly that invented ground. Defense counsel names are not redacted, but the prosecutors are. Congress demanded the internal charging deliberations and the protocol permits redacting deliberations. The redaction log the law required has still never been published. Nothing was released today and the judge has not ruled. Make sure you're following for more — this case moves every day and I’m following.
As a lawyer, I really appreciate this explaination. It is factually correct and well articulated.

So, if it shows the president abusing a minor, does that qualify as something that can be blacked out?

There’s over 3 million pages that haven’t been released! Is the judge going demand to see that?

Once again the focus needs to be on the files they DID NOT RELEASE. Of course anything they redacted but released is stuff they know os controversial but NOT DAMNING.

why does it feel like the law is intentionally written to only protect wealthy perpetrators and doesnt protect victims

How does anyone know if ALL documents were turned over? How would we know if Blanche or Potus has more documents?

Blanche has ham fisted this whole thing, but the main reason for the accidental victim releases is the super short deadline to release (from EFTA passage to release) coupled with the huge amount of material and the relatively few personnel that were set to reviewing the redactions. They basically only had time to review samples of the redacted documents.

Eliza, what’s the chances of this judge being bought off and caves to keep things covered up? Seems like that’s a pattern in this administration. 😒

The law is irrelevant. If the people in power are the ones who will suffer upon release of the un-redacted files, it's not gonna happen.
There are existential consequences to releasing it, and none for ignoring the order.

My big thing on full release of information is the victims. Trying to heal, move on, and build a new life and it can be taken from them a second time for zero reason.

Our law system functions out of trickery of words. Speak clearly. Why use an even more confusing form our stupid language (legalese)? It’s intentional. It’s wrong. Thanks for this explanation. I still don’t understand. But you did an excellent job.
