The fact that she asked Patrick to pick up takeout because she “didn’t feel like cooking”… this woman was still responsible for feeding everybody?! it’s honestly shocking and heartbreaking.

I’ll die on this hill, Patrick pulled some very serious and calculated moves that night

the fact that she was still the one to bring their 5 yr old to her doctor checkup that morning is mind blowing. Like HUH your wife is in active mental health crisis, in & out of inpatient, on dozens of diff meds & has told you she has thoughts of harming herself & your kids AND she was still the one to drive & bring your kid to a doctors appointment ALONE ?

What made me realize his head was in the sand was how little he knew about her appointments and journals, etc.

A mom would have packed those kids up in the car and brought them to the pharmacy and restaurant if her husband had said he anything she did …. Once…

I think this story is so painful for women because we all see ourselves in this story. It could have been any of us.

The amount of men that have told me “he became the sole provider what else was he supposed to do”. As if becoming the sole provider absolves you of any other responsibility

It also doesn’t sit well with me that he still gets a do-over, he got remarried he’ll probably have kids again etc and she’s lost everything regardless of the of the final verdict. It’s like he was an observer of the situation, just watching an episode of something on tv and gets to simple just “change the channel” and keep living

💯. Didn’t he even say he thought she was feeling better because she still made the children sandwiches? As long as she fulfilled her obligations without impacting his time or life, he was unbothered.

It was easier for him to let her struggle through it than for him to learn how to do it himself.

I feel like she didn’t go inpatient longer because she knew he’d have all 3 kids and it would be harder. She would feel guilty. She brought all the decorations to her kids bday. After being inpatient for 5 days. She KNEW her kids bday wouldn’t work out if she didn’t handle it. That’s sad to me.

If parents are now being held accountable for knowing and not doing anything to prevent their kids from becoming school shooters, then he for sure is just as liable for the part he played in this

Her older kids were in full time day care, he hired a nanny, he was home 24/7, her parents and his mother assisted and she was not working. How many of us have ever received this much help? Come on. 😂

She was still expected to be the default parent, even in her severe mental illness.

The way mothers keep defending that man is mind boggling!!!! Why don’t women realize this affects all mothers! Mothers are expected to be super women while men are expected to give the bare minimum

It’s not just moms. It’s all women. I was having a mental health break and when I told my family they were like “well what are we supposed to do?” as if I, the person breaking, was responsible for creating a plan of how to help me. Gosh, I can’t believe I didn’t stop going insane long enough to create a step by step guide!

no matter what she did, she would never have been done right. she asked for help and wasnt taken seriously enough because she was still functional, but if she wasnt functional she would still have been deemed a horrible, negligent mother. the pressure to continue being of use and taking care of the children youre responsible for doesnt just magically disappear because youre mentally unstable; in fact i'd argue it gets much bigger in most cases, especially when, statistically, men leave women who get sick or debilitated instead of taking care of them.
and for the people that seem to think she will be able to live on the outside world if shes found not guilty due to insanity, she wont. she will be locked up in a mental institution being treated and medicated until she is again a sane and safe person, which honestly might never happen after a trauma this big and a televised trial.
