Kingston was shot and killed in his bedroom while playing video games. Surveillance video from that night appears to show a group of people shooting at the home. At this moment no one has been arrested. However, on July 29, 2026, police revealed a possible connection to a separate murder that happened weeks before Campbell’s. In March 2023, 16-year-old Terrion Marshall was shot and killed while driving his vehicle. Investigators believe that murder to be gang related. Officers believe the shooting that killed Kingston was carried out in retaliation for Terrion's death. Warrants allege that gang members were attempting to shoot a member of a rival street gang but instead fatally shot Kingston. Officers announced that the reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction has been upgraded to $30,000.
