As a native Arab and a linguist who works in English-Arabic translation, I wanted to quickly clear this up! The speaker is confusing two completely different Arabic words. The word in the verse is قِبَلَ(qibala), which is a spatial preposition that simply means "towards" or "in the direction of." It is NOT the noun قِبْلَة (Qiblah), which specifically refers to the direction of prayer. The scholars didn't omit anything; they translated qibala accurately. There is no conspiracy here.

I've come to the understanding qibla is a mental change being commanded. polytheism to monotheism.

🕋 FACING TOWARDS KABBAH IN MAKKAH DURING SALAH -A Command of Allah from the Qur'an 📖 SURAH AL-BAQARAH, Chapter 2 142. The fools (pagans, hypocrites and Jews) among the people will say: What has turned them (Muslims) from their Qiblah towards Jerusalem) which they had? Say (O Mohammed): The East and the West belong only to Allah; He guides whom He likes to the right path. 144. We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased. So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram. And wherever you [believers] are, turn your faces toward it [in prayer]. Indeed, those who have been given the Scripture well know that it is the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do. 149. So from wherever you go out [for prayer, O Muhammad] turn your face toward al- Masjid al-Haram, and indeed, it is the truth from your Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what you do. 150. And from wherever you go out [for prayer], turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram. And wherever you [believers] may be, turn your faces toward it in order that the people will not have any argument against you, except for those of them who commit wrong; so fear them not but fear Me. And [it is] so I may complete My favor upon you and that you may be guided.

This is misleading and a distortion of the true meaning of the Qibla, which is the direction Muslims face in prayer.

What are you talking about? Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him was finally commanded by Allah to pray facing Kaabah. Not commanded by scholars.

You guys are missing out the words afterwards. "Almashriq" and "Almaghrib" which are referring to 2 states if the sun and not the directions.

al safi al Safi :
Dad, it's clear you don't know Arabic, so you've confused two completely different words: " gibal," where the letter "ba" has a diacritical mark above it (the letter "ba" which is fat-ha), and "qibla," where the letter "ba" has a vowel mark (called sukoon), so it's not pronounced "gibal" like the previous word, but rather "gibla." To make it easier for you to understand the difference between the two words, I will provide you with a transliteration of the verses in Latin letters: Laisal birra an tuwalloo wujoohakum qibal- al -mashriqi walmaghribi(2:177) "It is not righteousness that you turn your faces (toward) the east or the west" (Surah 2, verse 177). The word "qibal) here means "tward." The other word, "qibla direction," is not written like the previous one, as you will see below. fala nuwalliyannaka qibla-tan tardaahaa(2:144) "So We will turn you to a direction that pleases you."
