Polyester has its place. Its great for athletic wear. I wear it for running and the gym because it dries fast and performs well. But for fashion, Natural fiber is still king. Wool drapes better, cotton denim ages beautifully, leather develops character, and linen breathes naturally. They also don’t shed plastic microfibers every time you wash them. The reason polyester is everywhere in fashion isn’t because it’s better. it’s because it’s one of the cheapest fibers to produce, allowing brands to lower costs and increase margins. Use the right material for the right purpose. Performance wear? Polyester. If it’s something I wear for majority of the day? I’ll choose natural fibers every time. Especially my undies bro! 🩲

Its association bias, bad quality clothing usually are associated with polyester so “polyester is bad” even when its used in high quality clothing

the problem isnt polyester imo but when you buy a piece of clothing stating it does not have a high amount of polyester and it ends up being 50% or higher

Polyester also has bpa, pfas, phthalates, antimony trioxide, micro plastics, and synthetic dyes. It increases risk of cancer, disrupts ur endocrine system, causes more microplastic accumulation, lowers testosterone, pollutes the environment and takes 200+ years to decompose

if people really cared, they would stop buying from cheap labour countries. It’s more important than composition. A 50/50 blend shirt made in Italy will be better quality than a 100% linen from Bangladesh

Same mfs will glaze kapital fleeces, needles track pants, and pleats please. I do wish we’d stop all polyester production as it sheds into the water supply when it’s made tho.

Polyester is also a superior material for gymwear and baselayers due to it being strong and light and has moisture wicking properties. Polyester barely holds onto water. It will take sweat off your skin and evaporate it keeping you cool/warm depending on what you need
