I have just the opposite problem.... people hold their card /phone against the machine....im handing them their receipt and they are still just standing there wondering why its not working

we've had Tap to Pay for YEARS. having wait staff (in the u.s.) Take My Card Away, instead of bringing the machine to the table, makes me panic 😳

I think it’s because people hear the phrase “tap your card” and they are actually tapping the card. It should be “hold your card”

Its not just tap to pay either. It's cards in general which blows my mind. I'll have people in there 50s that I have to walk through using a card without a chip. This technology has been around for decades and you still don't know that the black strip is supposed to go in where you're swiping the card???

And card readers haven’t changed much in the past 20 years. Like why are you staring me in the face while the card reader is making the noise (for a full 20 seconds) for you to remove your card? “It says remove card”. THEN. TAKE. IT. OUT. “It’s asking for a pin” THEN. TYPE. IN. YOUR. PIN.

this and online banking. the amount of people that get up to my register and wait until I've scanned everything and gone through almost all of the transaction only to said "Hold on, let me transfer money to my card" drives me insane! you couldn't have done that before you got up here and held up my line??

It honestly is baffling to me. It really is not that hard. Hold it there until it recognizes that it’s there. If it doesn’t work the person working will actually recognize it is not working, you don’t need to panic
