Sooooo United States have lowered their standards so far we are basically illiterate graduating high school and China has raised theirs so high that neither of these situations are good. It’s almost like everything in moderation is the answer

I've explained this to a bunch of people, and explained that even passing the Gaokao with top results, and going to a top Uni (Like Peking), most, if not all, just get VERY average jobs, getting VERY average salaries. Most people don't get it.

I feel bad for the students, they deserve social lives outside, time to be kids - rest without stress, you cannot have a healthy work-life balance from the start - normalizing it early to socialize acceptance

My mentor in college when to school all her life in china. Long days and most schools are boarding schools bc of how much time they spend. Parents have some visitation but don’t really go. You aren’t ranked by school you’re ranked by ALL OF CHINA!! you are compared to every student in every school which is HARD. She would always say the worst thing to be was the bottom of the class bc it means you’re the worst China has to offer💀💀💀💀💀

everyone wants to live the "chinese student life" until you go to China and realize this isn't a cutesy aesthetic life, but it's rather hours of studying, crying, exhaustion, no time for anything and your parents trying to push you to do better so you can get a good job after graduation
