The way I tried to be captain save a ho for my family. The really hard part of this lesson for me was that when you try to save people who don’t like you just cause you love them, it drives them further from getting help and getting out. As long as healing comes with you, they’re gonna run from it. But it will never sit right with me that I just had to walk away from my sister. She’s my big sister, and I just wanted her to 1) heal and not continue the cycle, 2) maybe understand me enough through that process that she could learn to love me without the poison of our parents ruining it again. But she’s almost 40. She’s just like our mom. She got dad’s addiction and then married a man just like him, or maybe even worse, and she wants to have kids with him. She’s where she wants to be. And if I want her to leave and heal, I can’t be the one pushing for it. So I let her go. I will always love her, but honestly I don’t think I can be her sister anymore.
