As if history doesn’t show women being upheld to unrealistic beauty standards all throughout Western world and even in other countries? Genuinely how is that fair to say to women that they are responsible when women have always been scrutinized and called out for their looks to the point most women that have ed’s are women, most people that wear makeup are women and most “hygiene” is advertised towards women?? (Shaving products, skin care , hair care ect) womens looks have always been prioritized in society. And also conventionally attractive men are casted in movies but are conventionally attracted women not casted as well? You literally are ignoring years on years of looksmasking ideas being targeted towards women.

You’re acting as if the attitude men have toward women in media also isn’t terrible. For example, in fictional media like you mentioned, I’m going to use anime as an example because it’s the majority of what I watch, it’s genuinely hard to get into because of how women are portrayed in these shows. Every girl is cute with big tits, an small waist, wide hips, perfect skin, and hyperfeminine. Half the time they’re used as plot devices to improve the men’s stories. Same in movies, you guys will literally get mad if girls in your movies aren’t hot. I’m not going to deny that there aren’t high standards for men in media too, but that just leads to the truth of the matter that the media sets these super high standards for both genders and who is receiving those messages? Regular people which leaves them desiring for something more than what is achievable. You’ll see a lot of girls complaining about Thien because the majority of his viewers were women until he started with the looxmaxxing content. And obviously it’s weird to them to see someone harming themself on the internet. At the end of the day, I don't think it's fair to act like this is entirely women's fault, just like it wouldn't be fair to blame men for every insecurity women develop. This is a cultural problem and these sort of arguments don’t get anyone anywhere.

I feel like making this situation into a gender war is extremely childish but you’re acting as if women don’t have high ass standards as well . A majority of people who get plastic surgery are women , the average beauty mantaince for women is like $200+ , it’s also extremely common for young girls to have eating disorders . If anything both sides hold each other to high standards
