My father took me and made me walk through myself. I came out crying, sobbing & hyperventilating so hard, I didn’t speak for the next 4 days. My momma took me to church and the women elders prayed and anointed me with oil. Later that day I came in the kitchen and asked my momma “what was for dinner?” She looked at me and started crying and said, “whatever you want.” As a Blk child in the 90’s…picking Sunday Dinner on a non birthday? Unheard of.
