@shrink.think: Having a "Favorite Person" (FP) in Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) might sound flattering on the surface, but in reality, it often turns into an emotionally exhausting rollercoaster for both people involved.🎢 In this video, we break down what the Favorite Person dynamic actually is, why it happens from a clinical perspective and the psychological cycle that keeps both sides trapped. Understanding this pattern is the very first step toward building healthier, more stable connections. We’re diving into actionable strategies for both sides in our new series—including how to build emotional independence if you have an FP and how to set healthy boundaries if you are one. What’s the point of even being close to people if it’s always miserable for me

As a FP, when they split, they hate you. It’s gut wrenching and exhausting. Especially going through my own mental challenges I feel like I can’t even have a bad day.

Extremely thankful my husband of 8 years took the time to truly learn what BPD is. He’s learned how to communicate with me, what he needs to do when he sees me splitting, gives me reassurance and validation texts, reminds me to take my medication, supports me going to therapy.

Omg it’s so true. I was my brothers (he had borderline) favorite person”. He completed suicide 11 years ago. He needed me so much he called me while he was in progress of suicide. I spent my entire life being his everything which was so difficult and I did all I could. Now that he’s gone and since I lost my own identity

If you are a fp and you want a better relationship study borderline and understand the actions / reactions and thought processes. Most splits are builds up over time , the bpd was caused by trauma not choice and learn their triggers. They love whole heartedly and I wouldn’t change that fire in my wife of 19 years for anything

I split but not externally. I won’t curse them out or insult them, but I’ll sob for hours like someone died. I take out the anger on myself rather than them. “Why would I trust someone again, Im so stupid, maybe i was too much, nobody loves me and it’s all my fault”.

broke up with him because my bpd made me feel like a burden, yet at one point my brain tried to convince me it was because of what he did.

I was my husbands FP. He was diagnosed BPD and took his life within two weeks. I wish so bad we had his diagnosis sooner and could have began the correct treatment. He was loved immensely by so many people and I could never understand why he thought he was a terrible person when he was one of the good ones 💔
