If you see many ambulances in the morning, maybe they are heading to Sardjito Hospital. Sardjito is a national referral hospital, so in the mornings, many patients from surrounding regencies come for outpatient appointments. I hope that answers your question. Enjoy your holiday in Yogyakarta! 😊

it's important to notice that ambulance in Jogja serves not only for traffic incidents but for any health emergency issues and it's all free of charge anywhere in the city territory. i don't think you can get that free ambulance in US.

it's an AMBULANCE and isn't it obvious that they are going to HOSPITALS, and yes traffic accident often happens in Yogyakarta as much as sick people that need it.

sometimes not really emergency but using as transport for patient in bed doing reguler monthly check up. for me i don't mind at all.
