Don’t stand with Westjet flight attendants, stand with all flight attendants. Demand Ottawa amend the Federal Labour Code to correct this for all flight attendants. But Westjet doesn’t nickel and dime “everyone” they have add on fees to ultra basic, buy a better ticket and no nickel and dimes.

Current Flight attendant’s pay. Guaranteed 12 off per month. Meal per diems. Cheap travel benefits . Heck, a paramedic does not make that wage when you’re bleeding out. Alas, yes FAs need a cost of living increase since their last contract, but let’s be real.

Traditional flight attendant hourly rates are historically inflated to implicitly cover unpaid ground duties.

It is understood that their contract accounts for that time in their current compensation, so they are compensated for it in a manner. The primary reason for the impending or ongoing strike is that their wages have not increased in line with inflation, like many other workforces. While I agree that their pay should be raised, it is inaccurate to state that they are not compensated from the moment they arrive at the airport.
