No hate to Aang but let's be Frr the past lives were straight up usless, Roku dodging the question, Yangchan speaking in riddles, Kyoshi straight up saying kill Ozai (respect her for that) remember Aang got frustrated with Roku he severed his ties with him. imagine asking for advice and the first words are "The monks used to say" or "Me and My friends were in the same situation" That isn't helping.
