I was living in Hong Kong during the protests and still am. The protests were so well organised but in the end everyone was either arrested or fled the country to Taiwan, Canada, or the UK if they were lucky enough to have a second passport. If something this well organised and with as high of a percentage of the population participating didn’t enact change then what hope is there for anybody else protesting for change in any other country? Hard not to view an example like this and feel hopeless about what the “power of the people” can actually achieve…
