Guys ive watched atla many many time the southern raider leader did infact say "we're not taking prisoners today" so yes he killed and you see Katara ran to get hakoda and he yells "kya!" and i cant remember if they found kya's corpse or not but i do know in this clip it only shows katara running to find her mom because she says "im gonna go find mom" and she runs to her home and sees the southern raider leader and asks where the last water bender is and kya says its her and then tells katara to go get her dad.

I feel like a lot of people have a problem with media literacy. It was a cartoon, they also didn’t show the death of airbenders, but we are 100% sure they died. ATLA has never been really explicit about deaths, but they heavily implied it. Yon Rha literally says in this “we aren’t taking any prisoners.” Meaning they only wanted to get rid of the last waterbender in the southern water tribe. He killed Kya in her home, Katara didn’t watch her die, but she was the last to see her alive and one of the first ones to see her dead body. Learn how to understand very obvious conversational cues, people.

y'all... When they say "she was already gone by the time they got back" means she was already dead. If they took her mom (which they didn't) Katara never would have gotten her necklace. Katara likely saw her mom die or at least walked in to see her dead body.
