Verse 84 "Say, 'To whom belongs the earth and whoever is in it, if you know?'" Allah commands the Prophet ﷺ to ask who owns the earth and everyone on it. The answer is obvious: Allah. Lesson: Everything belongs to Allah. We are His creation and live under His authority. Verse 85 "They will say, 'To Allah.' Say, 'Then will you not remember?'" The disbelievers admit that Allah is the Owner of everything. Allah then asks why they do not reflect on what this means. Lesson: Knowing Allah is the Creator should lead us to worship Him alone. Verse 86 "Say, 'Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Mighty Throne?'" Allah asks who controls the highest creation—the seven heavens and His magnificent Throne. Lesson: Allah's dominion is unlimited. Nothing is beyond His control. Verse 87 "They will say, 'Allah.' Say, 'Then will you not fear Him?'" Again, they acknowledge Allah's Lordship. Allah reminds them that such knowledge should inspire reverence and obedience. Lesson: True faith is not only recognizing Allah, but also fearing Him, obeying Him, and avoiding sin. Verse 88 "Say, 'In whose Hand is the dominion of all things? He grants protection, and none can protect against Him, if you know?'" Allah asks who possesses absolute sovereignty. He alone gives protection, and no one can prevent what He decrees. Lesson: Our trust (tawakkul) should be placed in Allah alone, because only He has complete power. Verse 89 "They will say, 'Allah.' Say, 'Then how are you deluded?'" Although they know all these truths, they still worship others besides Allah. Allah exposes this contradiction. Lesson: It is inconsistent to acknowledge Allah's supreme power yet direct worship, prayers, or reliance to anyone else. Key Lessons from These Verses Allah alone owns the heavens and the earth. Allah alone is the Lord of the Mighty Throne. Allah alone controls life, death, protection, and all affairs. Recognizing Allah's Lordship should lead to sincere worship of Him alone. These verses are a powerful call to Tawḥīd, the foundation of Islam.
