Ogunde began his theatrical journey in the 1940s by producing Christian-themed dramas before establishing The Ogunde Concert Party, which later became Ogunde Theatre—Nigeria's first professional travelling theatre company. His troupe toured across Nigeria and other African countries, bringing live stage performances to diverse audiences. A passionate storyteller, Ogunde combined drama, music, dance, and traditional Yoruba culture to create captivating performances.
