@creature.critic: Have you heqrd of sea bees? 🐝 Chances are probably not, since they look like floating specks of dust... until you get close 👀🦐 These are sea bees (Idiomysis shrimp), filmed in the Similan Islands, Thailand. They gather in teeeny swarms above the reef, constantly darting around in near-perfect coordination. Unlike many reef shrimp that spend their lives hiding, Idiomysis shrimp stay suspended in the water column, feeding on tiny plankton while relying on the safety of the group to confuse predators. For photographers, they're both fascinating... and incredibly frustrating. Just when you think you've got the perfect shot, the whole swarm changes direction and depth and you're left with a blur.
