Wow the resonated with me so much. My dad is a narcissist and highly religious go figure! He would say and still does say hurtful things and then he saids the devil made him say those things. F that! People need to be held accountable for their actions that’s it.

I'm so sorry you went through that,that sounds exhausting and unfair. Totally get why getting away brought you peace since you removed yourself from a toxic environment. To give another perspective, Christians usually believe demons try to stir up trouble and exploit human trauma rather than completely wiping out personal accountability. So while your mom definitely used the devil as a cop out to avoid dealing with her own mess, a believer would argue that those chaotic, abusive vibes were basically an open door for that kind of spiritual influence. It's kind of like how people report unexplainable dark energy in certain places just because someone misuses the concept to dodge blame doesn't mean the spiritual side isn't real to people who experience it.

Religion is a comfort blanket people hide under to avoid change. When something forces them to see the error of their ways and change, they take it as a personal attack and resort to their faith as a defence mechanism. After all, it’s a lot easier to blame a person who doesn’t exist than it is to blame yourself.

Omg I talk about this all the time. The story of the fall of Lucifer isn’t even in the Bible it was made up and the only thing that exists is Satan and he is under God and takes permission from God before doing anything like in the book of Job. Even in Judaism there’s no adversary for God. The Christians just made it up to make God look Good.
