As required by Asante custom, their traditional ceremonial sandals (Kyakyaw) were removed, and they stood barefoot to signify their destoolment. The Kontihene and the Omanhemaa's Kyeame were spared. Otumfuo also reinstated the former Akyeamehene, Nana Opoku Antwi Boasiako, who had been destooled by Odeneho Dadiako Kwabena Nsiah Ababio, the former Kenyasi No. 2 Omanhene, about 16 years ago.
