Y’all act like just because this is a ship, it’s different than how people are on land. Life is the same whether at sea or on land and the same situations occur, whether it be illness, choosing to end life, etc it happens everywhere. Cruiseline employees choose their job just like anyone else. They work long hours but they also get downtime. Yes, the majority are from foreign countries but they make more money on the ships than they could in their countries and send it back to their families. They work long contracts and get months off at a time.. which honestly is better than the measly time off at a job on land.

These folks are working long days virtually no time off for 6-8 months at a time. And not to mention most of the entitled passengers. I always thank them for everything ask for very little and always tip. Remember their names because they remember mine. Common sense.

Public service announcement. To the people saying its because they are mistreated as crew members. I suggest you go on youtube and look at the crew bloggers. Your opinions will be changed. Also, there are laws in place to keep anyone from working to much. “ International maritime rules (like the Maritime Labour Convention) limit work to a maximum of 14 hours in a 24-hour window and 72 hours in a 7-day period, requiring at least 10 hours of rest per day.” Don’t judge by what you see, learn to do research. Thanks!
