Veteran mountaineer Pur Bahadur Gurung, popularly known as "Yukta," has been confirmed dead after a devastating avalanche struck an international expedition on Pakistan's 8,047-metre Broad Peak on July 30. The confirmation was made by the Alpine Club of Pakistan. � Instagram +1 Gurung was among Nepal's most accomplished climbers, having summited Mount Everest 10 times and completed 28 ascents of peaks above 8,000 metres. An IFMGA-certified mountain guide, he had also successfully climbed 12 of the world's 14 highest mountains, earning admiration across the global mountaineering community.
