My favorite way of watching films is to explore filmographies of directors and actors. I want to start a new recommendation series where I suggest directors and actors to explore + 4 films to begin the journey. 🎥 On this list: • Pedro Almodóvar: Spanish director and screenwriter. Distinguished by melodrama and bold colors, his work explores themes like desire, LGBTQ issues, motherhood and identity. • Martin Scorsese: American director, producer and screenwriter known for his iconic mafia and crime epics, exploring the American underworld, faith and complex protagonists. • Jean-Luc Godard: French director, screenwriter, and film critic who rose to prominence as one of the pioneers of the French New Wave in the 1960s. • Brian De Palma: American filmmaker best known for his work in the suspense, crime, and psychological thriller genres. • Spike Lee: American director, actor and screenwriter. Explores themes including race relations, issues within the black community and the role of media in contemporary life. • Michael Haneke: German-born Austrian director and screenwriter.
