most people i know died in 50s or 60s...statistics give life expectancy at 81 to 85....only rich people or congress...people that do physical jobs die not long after retirement..worked in factory 20 years never knew one coworker to retire and reach 80

Life expectancy in those days was lower because infant mortality. Half of the children born died before their first birthday. If you happen to make it past the age of 5 your life expectancy was not much different than now.
