In the Soviet Union, stuffed peppers were one of the meals that always meant summer had truly arrived. In this video, I take you through the entire process exactly as we used to make them at home. I went to the market to choose fresh sweet peppers, prepared the filling with minced meat, rice, onions and carrots, carefully stuffed each pepper, arranged them upright in a large enamel pot, mixed a rich tomato and sour cream sauce, and let everything slowly simmer on the stove. By the time they were ready, the aroma of tender meat and sweet peppers had filled the entire apartment. We served them with plenty of homemade sauce and a spoonful of cool sour cream. Breaking open the pepper with a fork released hot, flavorful juices, and the filling was unbelievably tender. It was the simple homemade taste that always reminded us of summer in the USSR. #USSR #sovietunion #History #story
