(Part 2: Liberalization of Transporters Association) The Indigenous Transport Owners Association is an incredible force at the Ports. They move containers in and out. - We learned that there are only about 250-350 reliable trucks in circulation. We need 2 to 3 times that amount. This is an opportunity for some investors. The issue however is that ITOA limited who can participate to indigenous Sierra Leoneans (some of their reasons were valid). They will open up the market. That's radical inclusion. - We learned that container trucks don't use the fuel tanks. No one trusts anyone so they use attached fuel gallons. We must change this. - We learned that although the tariff is fixed, customers negotiate outside those limitations and don't call ITOA for solve problems. Let's change behaviors. - We learned that human actions can lead to major delays at the port (drivers abandoning their trucks, mechanical issues, etc). We will change the fines and penalties and have SLRSA provide dedicated towing services at the port. We are the problems. We are the solutions. Let's get to work.
