@doctorhoeflinger: A neurosurgeon’s career coming to an end for all the right reasons. People probably wonder why a surgeon would want to stop operating. For me, it’s about living the one life I have to its fullest.

Be Inspired :

For decades, your purpose was waiting for you in an operating room, often in the middle of the night. That kind of calling is hard to walk away from. But I hope you’ll discover that purpose doesn’t end with retirement. Sometimes it simply changes. Wishing you many years of new experiences, meaningful moments, and time with your wife to enjoy the life you’ve spent so many years making possible for others.

The hardest part I struggled with (and still do sometimes) is how much schooling, knowledge I've acquired, experiences on the job, how hard I worked, how much I cared about my patients, and how much I know about my field, and it all just came to a stop. I still have all my knowledge and it's weird that it's not really being used anymore. I know there are other outlets to use it, but it's just a hard thing to wrap my head around sometimes. Congratulations on your retirement! Enjoy your family and have fun!
