You’re probably under-applying it. ☀️ Most people are diligent about serums, retinoids, vitamin C, peptides, and treatments, yet underestimate the step that protects the skin from one of its biggest external aging pressures: UV exposure. And quantity matters. The SPF on the bottle is determined under standardized testing using 2 mg of sunscreen per cm² of skin. In real life, nobody is measuring their face in a laboratory, which is why the two-finger method is often used as a practical approximation for the face, with additional product needed for the neck, ears, and exposed chest. This is also why I don’t treat sunscreen as a summer product. UVA contributes to photoaging and is present throughout the year. Some UVA also passes through window glass, which is worth considering when you spend substantial time near windows or driving. My Functional Beauty philosophy is simple: protect the biology before constantly trying to repair the damage. You can invest in every antioxidant, peptide and treatment available, but skincare works within the environment you create for your skin. Protect first. Treat second.
