I was ready to just hate on the men. But there are some valid points here.

It all just feels like repackaged patriarchy spun in a way to make it seem progressive but it really isn’t

Reminds me of that tiktok where the guy was talking about the spool of wire or something and reflecting on life, and his wife just laughed at him. Still makes me sad how she reacted

The first one is getting proved right currently with the whole bi men debacle going on right now.

The "dad bod" thing is soooo real cause a 300+ lb dude doesn't get the same attention a 300+lb female does (not fat shaming I just want that same level of attention as a big back myself 😭)

about the vulnerability aspect, i’ve seen multiple men dump such heavy stuff on their girlfriends so soon into their relationships and expect them to basically deal with it for them just because their women and more in touch with their emotions, or they expect women to help them get over past relationship trauma under the disguise of emotional vulnerability

I saw the "dadbod" thing compared to men wanting a girl who doesnt use make up, but using a pic of a women in make up as the example

I think a lot of women have some cognitive dissonance when it comes to how they want a man to manage his time. I'll see women say that they want a guy who has a good job that pays him a lot and a wide social circle to show that he's a socially competent person. They want him to have consistent hobbies, spend time at the gym and to do all the hard manual labour in the home. But they don't seem to be able to accept that a man who has and does all those things is not going to have endless time to spend with her and will want some downtime to himself as well. Even if you as his girlfriend are his priority, his job alone is going to mean there are times where even if he wants to be with you, he can't be and times where his work tires him.

I personally think a lot of women want the optics having a sweet empathetic boyfriend but legitimately find being empathetic and sweet cringe.

I want to add one as a trans man: a lot of women, especially queer women, seem to be more attracted to the idea of dating trans guys because they know what’s it’s like to be women living in a patriarchy, but then some of those same women get upset when their trans man friend or bf actually “acts like” a and lives as a man, and not just a butch woman. Especially if their trans man bf is bi or otherwise queer in sexuality.

When it comes to LGBT stuff, yeah. As a non-passing trans man, I've been accepted by cis men more than cis women. Cis men are pretty black and white and open about their views. You're either their potential he/him gf or just a guy they occasionally misgender. There are so many different types of cis women, I kinda avoid them now. Sometimes they're "accepting" and ask the most invasive and inappropriate questions. Other times, they have to give you a story about a trans person they know who is depressed and they want better for you (detransitioning), or a lecture about God. Or they throw everything that they hate about men onto you.

After the first time I ever cried in front of my ex, she started respecting me less as a person. I was so deep in denial about it that I actively let myself be dehumanized as she belittled my feelings and made hers the priority in every conversation. If I EVER came to her about how she was making me feel, the discussion would inevitably end with her crying and me having to pack up my emotions to make her feel better bc she didn’t know how to handle mine.

I remember when the “sassy man apocalypse” trend was happening. Really made me take a good look at the ways women contribute to gender roles and patriarchy despite being victims of it themselves.

Gender roles for he and not for she is one that peeves me specifically. They want a man to provide for them and let them be stay at home but don’t wanna do the tasks that go along with staying home

i begggg and beg men to talk about their feelings and just have a normal conversation about how we're thinking and feeling and how can i help you feel better and how can you help me feel better. its all ended in them calling me annoying and "nagging" them

I think the wanting to be owned and treated like property thing might be a kink thing but some women feel kink is gross and scary so they say they don’t want it. Kink takes a lot of consent, trust, conversation so you can still feel safe but too many women think “but I am not into THAT stuff” or “I’m not like THOSE women” 🙄

had a guy who was an Afghan vet, this girl he was dating was constantly begging him to open up about what was bothering him. he finally shared that while deployed one of the children who helped them with translations one day on patrol was digging up a mine and had stepped on it. she didn't want him to share anymore after that

I wish I'd have seen this post 😭 I have a HUGE gripe about women who want a "funny" man on dating apps. One message intros leads to almost only one liners and most genuinely funny people being limited and missed out on.

The one about “women want what other women want” one is so true. I always get hit on so much more when I’m in a relationship and the women flirting know that I’m in one. As soon as I’m single, crickets.

I agree with a lot of the points made. I swear, the more I think on things, the more I realize that everything boils down to heteronormativity, partiarchal standards, and misogyny (internalized and externalized).

I agree that there seems to be a pretty large disconnect when it comes to fitness. more and more people try and swear that being muscular and/or fit does little to nothing in helping you find a partner. I just don't think that's true. I think people just aren't being completely honest with themselves, or they're wildly underestimating the level of effort and fitness it takes for people to look even a little decent.
