@daveanica: I almost didn’t come to Amsterdam Pride. After everything that’s been happening around the world, and after the horrific attack at a Pride event in Germany, I found myself asking whether it was the right thing to do. Whether it was safe. Whether I should stay home. But then I remembered exactly why Pride exists. For so many of us, Pride isn’t just a celebration. It’s visibility. It’s community. It’s a reminder that every single person deserves to live openly, safely and without fear. It’s easy to forget that, while many of us have seen incredible progress, there are still countries where being LGBTQ+ is criminalised. There are still people hiding who they are because simply being themselves could cost them their freedom, their family, or even their lives. That’s why we keep showing up. Not because we’re fearless, but because visibility matters. Because every time someone lives authentically, it reminds someone else that they’re not alone. If we allow fear to silence us, then hate wins. So today, I’m choosing love. I’m choosing hope. And I’m choosing to stand proudly, not just for myself, but for everyone who still can’t.
