I saw that once in my life. when I was a little girl, my aunt loved cats and had a lot. we were playing in the basement and the momma was 1/2 thru, 😳 my aunt explained to us that some animals just eat their young. and thats about it! now I tell ua, some humans...should of gotten...🤣

How awful to find that 😞 I saved a 4 week old after mom was shunning him and the others were bullying him. His name is Shithead and turns 10 yrs old this year. I Love him to pieces 🤗❤️

She probably saw something physical that was evidence of the mom doing away with one of the kittens guys lol. It’s not like she saw a kitten dead that just looked like it got sick overnight. We really need to put our critical thinking hats on my friends 😂

I had a mom once kill all the babies. it was so disturbing and I have no idea why. I've read it can be because deficiencies and other things but who knows. I think you're doing the right thing keeping a close eye

Mom cats will reject a sickly baby to conserve resources for the healthy kittens. Just Mother Nature at work but it’s always sad and disturbing.

Similar thing happened to my neighbour's dog when she had a litter of puppies. She left one on its own and refused to feed it - gave it no attention etc. My neighbour took the puppy to the vet who did a scan and said the pup's insides were all wrong and that it would have perished soon anyway. Mama dog could smell/sense this and knew that to feed the pup would just be a waste of resources. We see this as harsh but animals are practical.

I had a dog do that and it was because she had a massive uterine infection and knew she couldn’t care for them. We saved the other pups and bottle raised them. Mama was fine after surgery.

Mama knows, and nature is all about survival of the fittest. sad kitten died (or was killed) but Mama has to keep the strong kittens going. nature is harsh.
