Given only five weeks to gain roughly 35 pounds to match Bronson's formidable, brawler physique, Hardy rapidly bulked up on a high-calorie diet of pizza, chocolate, chicken, and rice alongside bodyweight resistance training with his trainer Pnut. Beyond the physical regimen, Hardy made multiple personal visits and phone calls to Bronson in prison to study his voice, mannerisms, and mental state.
