The Scott Jericho series by William Hussey are brilliant. Jericho is an ex-Police Detective who returns to his fairground roots, but still ends up solving murders. He's notably crime fiction's first gay traveller detective, and has a partner across the novels. Excellent series!

the killing of a chestnut tree by oliver k langmead is coming out in october! very short and quick read but so beautiful in its writing switching from the watson characters writing to the man reading! very beautiful one of my favorite reads this year
