I think the hand sniff myth is because that's how you're supposed to greet cats. People woefully misunderstand how different cats and dogs are.

i always keep my distance and ask if i can pet someone’s dog and then let them sniff my hand. i only had half a good habit; i had no idea the hand sniffing wasn’t a good idea! thank you 🥰

i have a question,i have a dog and he's a street mix of beagle and probably jack Russell and/or dachshund,and I'd like to know what's the right type of harness for him. he's mostly a beagle and I wanna ensure that his harness is safe for him :) thank you

people hate when I say no lol especially their kids. " my kid won't hurt your dog" my dog is severely overwhelmed and hiding behind me. head down. she doesn't want your kid near her.. 😫 " you shouldn't bring your dog out in public " she's on a lead, she's allowed out in public you just dont need to be up in my dogs space!!! I have a " in training dont approach" some people actually take it on board.

I was always taught growing up to ask permission because they could be aggressive but also for the dog, it's crazy some people don't because it could be super aggressive or scared or the human just wants to be left alone 😭

I never approach dogs I don't know, if I notice a dog I'll usually say just say hello to them and If they come over I'll offer my hand

I work in a vet clinic and it takes every fibre of my being to stop myself saying hi to strange dogs when I see them out and about 😅

People always just come and stroke him. He always prefers to sniff peoples hands first other wise he most likely won’t let anyone stroke him

Better than my friend who thought he should greet my new rescue by getting down and kissing her face. He’s like the human equivalent of those off lead dogs who are “friendly”.
